ST MARK’S GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Christ Centred    Spirit Guided       Inclusive

Encouraging Discipleship               Witnessing to the Gospel

Liturgical Colour: Green

The Sundays after Pentecost (known as the "non-festival" season of the church year) are the Sundays in which we concentrate on the growth of the church.

They begin with Trinity Sunday, and ends with "Christ the King" Sunday, where we focus on the end times, and the second coming of our Lord Jesus.

The Gospel lessons for this season concentrate on the teaching and ministry of Jesus.  The Old Testament and Epistle lessons have a semi-continuous narrative, with the Revised Common Lectionary (which we customarily use) giving two options for the Old Testament lessons, either the stories of the Patriarchs through Genesis and Exodus, or the Prophets.

The liturgical colour for the Sundays after Pentecost (which comprises roughly half of the church year) is green, as this symbolises new life and growth.

Walk My Way:

As most of you heard on Sunday we had a wonderful day for Walk My Way Dalby!

We were blessed with beautiful weather, 56 enthusiastic participants, plenty of laughter and encouragement - and we certainly built up an appetite, because we sold out of sausages!

Our amazing bakers also provided a delicious array of treats, which are now also sold out. The baking sales and donations given on just on Sunday morning totalled over $430, followed by another $250 donation on Monday. What an amazing response!

Which now brings our Western Downs Faith in Motion team to $7,194!! And thanks to the generosity of our church and wider community, our total now represents support for an incredible 71 precious refugee girls to receive an education.

Praise God! 🙌

That is 71 girls with greater opportunities, greater hope and a greater chance to shape their own futures. What an incredible thing to be part of!

And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible. We could not have done it without our risk assessors, bakers, marshals, BBQers, servers, couriers, set-up and pack-down crews, suppliers, participants, encouragers, supporters and donors.

Whether you walked a kilometre, cooked a sausage, baked a cake, carried a table, gave a donation, cheered someone on or simply turned up - you played a part.

Thank you for putting faith into motion and helping give these precious girls hope for their future.

Speaking of grateful, a special thank you must go to LLL. Not only are they the Gold Partner for the Brisbane Walk My Way event (and by extension our event) providing all of the Walk My Way shirts, but they also generously responded to a cheeky donation request by giving $500 to Western Downs Faith in Motion. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and support!

What a privilege to see our church and wider community come together for such an important cause.  Donations can still be given in cash or online at https://brisbane.walkmyway.org.au/page/WesternDownsFaithinMotion

Praise God for a beautiful day, an amazing community, and 71 precious young lives being given new opportunities through education! ❤️
