The Epiphany of our Lord is celebrated on 6 January.
The word Epiphany means a sudden or great realization or revelation and it is celebrated as the first appearance of Christ to the Gentiles, when the Magi (Wise men) came to worship him. In the Lutheran church, this season runs from the day of Epiphany until Ash Wednesday and includes the baptism of Jesus.
