Together Sharing Christ’s Love

Welcome to:

Redeemer, Macalister

St Mark’s, Dalby

Liturgical Colour: Violet/Blue

Happy New Church Year!

Advent begins with the First Sunday of Advent, at the end of November or the beginning of December.  This is the beginning of the church year.  There are always four Sundays of Advent, before Christmas, whether Christmas day falls on a weekday or a Sunday.  The word ‘advent’ means ‘coming’.  During this time we look forward to our Lord’s coming as a human baby at Bethlehem and also to his final coming as king at the end of time.  We also remember his continual coming to his people in his word and sacraments.  Advent is therefore a time of waiting, preparing, and hoping.  This involves both repentance and joyful anticipation.

  • Lord Jesus, you came as a shepherd for your people. Gather all people into your church.

  • Lord Jesus, you have taught us to worship you. Keep the whole church in your truth until you come again as our Lord and King.

  • Lord Jesus, you came to be the prince of peace. Bring peace to the world, especially to those countries which are at war.

  • Lord Jesus, creation groans for your coming. Come and redeem the world and all that is in it.

  • Lord Jesus, you entered our world and shared our weakness. Bring health to the sick and give the dying a share in your glory.

  • Lord Jesus, you humbled yourself to become a human being. Be with all who are poor and powerless in our society.

  • Lord Jesus, prepare us for your coming at the end of time. Help us to be sorry for our sins and work for peace between all people
